STREICHER Pilsen has built two new halls

STREICHER Pilsen has completed two new buildings at its mechanical engineering division: a central warehouse covering 2,000 m² and a fifth production hall covering 2,500 m², designed for the manufacture and final surface finishing of stainless steel and aluminium vacuum chambers. The total investment of CZK 250 million will help improve production efficiency and support the company's further development. The official opening of the new halls took place on Friday, 16 October, attended by employees and invited guests.

The production site of STREICHER Pilsen's Mechanical Engineering Division now comprises five production halls and a central warehouse.

"Industry is constantly evolving. The development and manufacture of vacuum systems, which is our area of expertise, is benefiting from the rapid growth of the space and semiconductor industries. Laser research, energy and optics also offer significant opportunities. These are high-value-added sectors with extremely demanding quality requirements," says Jiří Lopata, Managing Director and Head of the Mechanical Engineering Division. "Our production site is currently operating at full capacity. Our aim is therefore to focus primarily on qualitative improvements, optimising work organisation and increasing production efficiency to maintain our competitiveness in European and global markets," he adds.

The two new halls were officially inaugurated on Friday, 16 October, in the presence of Libor Picka, Member of the Council of the Pilsen Region, Jan Polívka, Mayor of Štěnovice, and Milan Edl, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.

Construction began in September 2024, following a ten-year preparation phase. This included removing the site from the designated mining area, ground preparation, amendments to the local land-use plan and obtaining the necessary building permits. "Our production site is located on a former mining area, so we first had to arrange for the land to be removed from the designated mining area and obtain permission to remove a spoil heap and carry out groundworks. At the same time, we worked on an amendment to the local land-use plan, which took eight years. A second amendment was then required, taking a further two years to approve. We obtained the building permit for the halls in September 2024," explains Jiří Lopata. "We made every effort to ensure that the amendments to the land-use plan were also approved at public council meetings. I would therefore like to thank the municipality for its support and cooperation," he adds.

The new central warehouse, covering 2,000 m², also serves as a logistics hall, providing not only secure material storage but also the preparation of materials for production. It is equipped with a Warehouse Management System (WMS) that supports just-in-time material supply, enabling more efficient planning and coordination of warehouse and production processes. Construction of the warehouse took place between September 2024 and the end of 2025.

The new production hall 5, covering 2,500 m², is designed for the manufacture of stainless steel and aluminium vacuum chambers, particularly their final surface finishing. It allows the handling of products up to 10 metres in height. Construction began in spring 2025 and lasted approximately 15 months.

As part of the site development, STREICHER installed a 360 kWp photovoltaic system on the roofs of production halls 2 and 3, with financial support from the European Union. The installation also includes a battery storage system with a capacity of 300 kWh.
