What attracted you to STREICHER when you were deciding where to go after studying mechanical engineering?
What caught my attention was that STREICHER is not just an engineering company focused only on development, but also has its own production full of exciting technologies. As a design engineer, that gives me the opportunity to create interesting parts and equipment and then follow the entire process of their realisation.
What do you enjoy most about working as a design engineer?
What I enjoy the most is the creative aspect combined with the use of very interesting technologies. It is deeply fulfilling to see a device that once existed only on paper or on a computer screen comes to life and performs the function required by the customer. At that moment, I know that my work has real meaning.
After how many years at STREICHER did you get the opportunity to lead the engineering department?
I was offered the position after just under five years at STREICHER. When my manager and the company director approached me with the offer, I hadn’t expected it at all. My first thoughts were about the huge responsibility and whether my colleagues would accept it. Looking back, I have to say that everyone around me was very supportive and helped me adapt.
What does the engineering team work on?
We work on everything from supporting our production, through vacuum systems for the energy sector, to specialised vacuum chambers for the semiconductor industry and for space environment simulation.
What is the team’s biggest challenge?
From a people perspective, the biggest challenge is integrating new colleagues in such a way that allows us to maintain a great team atmosphere in the office. From a technical perspective, we will need to respond to new customer requirements, which means constantly learning and adopting new technologies and engineering principles to remain competitive. I believe we are ready to face these challenges.
